d’Luxe Classic Car Tours is a new tourism venture from Melbourne resident and mid-fifties Chevrolet enthusiast John Frostell. The small business is focused on providing highly personalised car drive experiences to travellers and locals alike seeking a not-so-common look at Melbourne and outlying areas beyond the city centre and its suburbs.

With nicely finished and well maintained collector cars John will find and take you to the most cosy country restaurant; an array of boutique wineries; art experiences indoor and out; botanical gardens and walks; scenic photo op locations or simply a few hours of beautiful country road driving to show off the hills, bushland and seascape that surrounds this beautiful city.

Holding an ever-expanding cache of travel experience ideas, he relishes the notion of tailoring itineraries to suit each guest group’s interests and needs with delivery in an informed, comfortable and convivial manner – with plenty of talk and laughs along the way.

John has interests in history, travel, current affairs, adventure, culture, nature, politics, art and design, food and beverages (not just wine) and, importantly, what other people are up to in their world. Oh … also the art of conversation. (And as far as formal guiding goes, this fellow is 100% self-taught – and also a bit cheeky – which means what he does not properly know about something he will simply make up on the fly!)

Let me open that door for you!” was a phrase John coined right from the start, and it remains the driving force (no pun intended) for d’Luxe to this day.

Editor’s note: I’m not a complete 1950s tragic – it’s just the cars from that period that I love to find, have, restore, maintain and drive.

What they are saying about d’Luxe:
It was an amazing day on Phillip Island with the Chevy Bel Air double pack. So fine cars! Thank you John and Wes for this chilly trip, your expert guiding, your excellent breakfast and lunch recommendation and your humour.
